The 2010 Tartan Spectacular will host the 2010 Australian Pipe Band Championships—the pinnacle of pipe band competitions in Australia.

Graded into grades four, three, two and one with a special grade for juvenile pipers and drummers, bands are challenged to perform specific genres of music. Juvenile and grade four bands play a traditional march selection plus an own-choice musical selection, whilst grades three, two and one play a march, strathspey and reel and an own-choice musical selection.

The Championships will take place on Saturday 3 April, starting at 8am and finishing betwenn 5 and 6pm.  A full schedule of times is HERE

Technical ability of piping and drumming and the band’s overall musicality is adjudicated by an ensemble and drumming adjudicator plus two piping adjudicators. The ‘swing of the kilt’ is also judged in the dress element of the competition.
